Highlights from 9/16/2010 school board meeting

September 17, 2010
  • The board held the first of three public hearings on the conversion of one half (.5) mill of inside millage from current expenses use to permanent improvement use.  Per state requirements, to receive the matching funds from the construction projects, we must set aside at least .5 mills for maintenance on new construction in the district.  This move is simply an internal transfer from money in the General Fund to a separate Permanent Improvement Fund, so the money can be used ONLY for maintenance.  There will be NO increase in taxes due to this move.  If you have any questions, please contact me for more information.
  • The board approved fiscal year 2011 appropriations (i.e., “the budget”).  For details, click here.
  • A special work session will be held the second week of October to discuss the five-year forecast.  The forecast will then be voted on at the October board meeting since it must be submitted to the state by the end of the month.
  • Nancy House & Jill Chin presented results from last year’s state report card.  For details, click here.
  • There will be an Open House at the Milford High School on Saturday, October 9, from 10 am – 2 pm.  This is a great chance to get out and see the new high school – you won’t recognize it, promise!
  • The Clermont County Commissions will hold their October 18 town meeting in the new cafeteria at the high school.  If you’d like to know what’s going on in the county, join them at 6:30 pm.
