Here are the highlights from the September 20 school board meeting.

  • Milford Main is celebrating its 100th birthday with the unveiling of a time capsule placed in the cornerstone in 1912.  The box will be opened and the school celebrated on Thursday, October 4 at 7 pm, at Milford First United Methodist Church.  All are welcome!
  • The Milford Schools Foundation will host its third annual Night of the Stars, honoring six distinguished Milford alumni, on Saturday, September 29.  The event will be held at R.S.V.P., 453 Wards Corner Road.  Doors open at 5:30 pm with dinner served at 6.  There will be silent and live auctions, Share the Wealth.  The ceremony itself will begin at 8 pm.  Tickets are $40 per person and may be purchased at the Milford School Board office; Lehr’s Meats; or Park National Bank.
  • The Business Advisory Council (BAC) will hold its first meeting on Monday, September 24, at Siemens Software, 2000 Eastman Drive in Milford.  The group will decide how to proceed on the two projects presented by the board:  1) evaluating the business potential of Milford Main; and 2) identifying opportunities for additional shared services.  Tom Rocklin is chairing the Council.  Members include Denny Begue, Brower Insurance Agency; Jeff Wright, City of Milford; John Gray, ITI; Tony Hyott, St. Elizabeth Healthcare; Randy Merrill, McGill Smith Punshon; Lois McKnight, Deerfield Township; Rusty Myers, Jones Lang LaSalle Americas; and Frank Torbeck, The Everest Group.
  • The board approved a new handbook for Athletics and Extracurricular activities.  This past spring, Mark Trout added extracurriculars to his responsibilities, becoming Athletics & Activities Director.  He will be working to ensure consistency across all activities.
