Baby carrots in vending machines?

Mason High School has found a way to combine healthier eating with a marketing lesson.  The school is the first in the country to host a baby carrot vending machine in its halls.

When the school was approached with the idea of testing the carrot vending machine, they immediately looked for educational opportunities.  Their business teacher, who is “always looking for creative ways to engage students with authentic learning experiences,” jumped on the opportunity.  Six student teams each developed marketing plans.  Each then gets a week to run their promotions, with the winning team being the one that generated the most revenue.

In a time when more and more people are concerned about offering healthy food options in schools, this is definitely a win-win for everyone!
