Being ready for college

According to Education Week, high school completion does not equal college readiness.  That finding has led educators to search for ways to help seniors figure out just how ready they are to take the next educational step.  A California program is helping seniors determine if they are able to enter credit-bearing courses immediately, or if remedial classes are needed first.  That program is described in this article.

At Milford, one thing we do know is that students who take Honors and AP classes are much more prepared for college classes than their counterparts who stick with standard classes.  With the new weighting of Honors, and increased weighting of AP classes (click here for article), it makes more sense than ever for students to challenge themselves, not only increasing their GPA but preparing themselves for the rigors of college and their futures.
