President Obama makes education a State of the Union centerpiece
This past Tuesday, President Obama tied education squarely to the nation’s economic future. Despite advocating for spending freezes and cuts, he also said it would be foolhardy to cut spending on education and innovation. However, he provided no specific proposals involving education funding.
He also reiterated his commitment to change the current No Child Left Behind Act, but once again provided no alternatives.
What does this mean? We don’t know. All we do know is Ohio districts face potentially huge cuts from state funding, on top of those already reflected in our budget, as the state works to balance a budget that shows an $8-10 billion deficit.
