Workers Compensation cost is cut in half

Every business pays Workers Compensation to cover expenses for accidents that happen on company property.  The amount a business pays depends on the number of accidents and how much is then paid out by Workers Comp.

Two years ago, the district’s annual Workers Comp cost was about $400,000.  That was the first year Jeff Johnson joined us as Operations Manager.  One of his responsibilities is to find ways to make the workplace as safe as possible.

The net result is that our accident rate is down significantly, meaning our staff and students are safer – and our Workers Comp cost is less.  For FY2010-11, our cost dropped to $241,000; this year, it will be appr. $199,000 – half of what it was just two years ago!  This is a great testament to Mr. Johnson’s work making our buildings as safe as possible for everyone.
